Community leader rooted in family services elected as new board member
Daniel Smith, regional manager for Community Health Plan and Vancouver resident has been elected to the Board of Trustees for Children’s Home Society of Washington (CHSW).
Daniel possesses a deep understanding of and rich experience with the family social services industry, with a master’s degree in social work and a 20+ year track record in direct service roles and partner engagement to help children and families impacted by the system.
“I remain inspired every day by the amount of resiliency and strength all families, especially kids, have despite the circumstances many families experience,” said Daniel. “That strength, to me, is the foundation to build upon that can make decisive impacts on policy and programs that change lives for the better.”
Daniel has worked on the front lines of building strong communities, accountable for public funds and within various senior leadership capacities in private and public sectors.
“Adding a new member to our Board of Trustees with vast sector knowledge and expertise, combined with community presence and connections will allow us to reach more families with our work,” said Dave Newell, president and CEO of Children’s Home Society of Washington. “We are enthusiastic about deepening our positive impact for more families with the support of fresh perspectives from new Board of Trustees like Daniel.”
Daniel resides in Vancouver, Wash. with his two daughters.
