As a teenager, I was diagnosed with a critical illness. During that time, community members and organizations stepped up to remind me that I was not just a statistic or a diagnosis. They supported me as a person, and empowered me to make plans for my future, even if that future would look much different than I had expected.
For more than 10 years, I have worked with non-profits to support children with critical illnesses and youth in foster care. I know that giving children the tools to express themselves and develop healthy coping skills during their formative years sets them up for future success.
That's why I was inspired by Children's Home Society of Washington's mission that focuses on prevention and supports families and children before they are in urgent need. Through early intervention and access to resources, families are empowered to make informed choices that keep them healthy, hopeful and strong.
I am honored to serve on the Children's Home Society of Washington's marketing advisory committee, and hope to use my background in visual storytelling and donor-centered communications to help expand the CHSW's outreach efforts and the visibility of their vital community programs.
